Chiba museum of science and industry

We went to the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Science and Industry on October 30th.
At the Chiba Museum of Science and Industry, you can learn about power generation and energy.I went there because there seemed to be a lot of information about energy.

      <The first encounter with electricity>

It is believed that the first encounter with electricity was lightning. Humans have also long used magnets, which are closely related to electricity. It never occurred to me until I was told that the lightning I sometimes see was the first encounter with electricity in the past. I think I now have a better understanding of how human evolution began with something familiar to us.

      <The Beginning of Electricity Generation>

Invented more than 300 years ago, the massinokinetic is said to be the first attempt to artificially generate electricity. From there, technology related to electricity developed, and in 1832, the first practical generator using coils and magnets was invented. In junior high school physics classes, students learn about the relationship between electricity and magnets, such as magnetic fields, along with electricity, so I was able to reaffirm the strength of the relationship between electricity and magnets.       <Invention of the light bulb>

The arc discharge lamps used for lighting in the 1870s were not suitable for household use because the current was too strong. Around 1880, incandescent lamps were invented and were widely used because they were suitable for household lighting. I think LED bulbs are widely used today, and I think they have developed well in terms of light control, cost, and environmental considerations. I think the development of technology is important.

      <The secret is Kyoto's bamboo❗>

Light bulbs are lit by passing an electric current through a filament. Edison used bamboo from Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine for the filament. At first I had no idea that Edison, that famous inventor, would use Japanese bamboo as the material for his light bulb. I think it is very wonderful that Edison searched and searched for the source of his inspiration.

      <The Beginning of Massive Consumption of Electricity>

The first practical device to use electricity was the telegraph, which used electricity as a method of communication. Subsequently, as the number of convenient home appliances increased, large amounts of electricity were consumed. The increase in power consumption with each technological development tends to be viewed negatively, but it is also necessary to consider the positive aspects, such as improved efficiency through the devising of new methods of power generation. Without technological development, the survival of the human race would be at stake.

      <Power plants>

As people began to consume large amounts of electricity, power generation methods were devised and succeeded in producing large amounts of electricity. While it is gratifying that power generation methods have improved in terms of efficiency, from the perspective of "energy for the future," it would have been nice to see more development in terms of the environment as well.
