Look, this graph shows the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals),
which was adopted by the United Nations with international goals set to
achieve by year 2030. It is composed of 17 goals and 169 targets and promises
that no one will be left behind.
SDGs is a universal goal for not only developing countries but also for
the developed countries, which means they are our own goals!
However, unfortunately, the Japanese awareness of SDGs is only 15%. Moreover, 75% of corporations do not undertake the goals of the SDGs. We believe that these are not goals only for corporations, but consumers also need to express their will to participate in achieving goals.
Food loss issue under the SDGs is Goal 12, “Responsible Consumption and
Production”. Achieving this goal requires a strong national framework for
sustainable consumption and production that is integrated into sustainable
business practices and consumer behavior. Companies have responsibility
on production and consumers on making wise choices to avoid food loss.
we consumers need some change with our choices, too.
