Can you get fingerprints off photo?!

In recent years, many junior and senior high school students have been using social networking services to post photos of their fun memories and favorite pictures. However, the danger of "fingerprint theft from photos" has actually been pointed out recently! In fact, there have been verified cases where people have been able to duplicate fingerprints from photos and gain unauthorized access to biometrics.
So, we would like to teach you from our experiments what kind of photos can be fingerprinted and what kind of photos are safe.
First, we actually took a picture with a camera to verify whether fine fingerprints can really be read from a photo.

To my surprise, the finger taken at the size of the photo on the left clearly showed the fingerprint when enlarged, as shown in the photo on the right.
In recent years, technology has advanced further and image quality has improved, so it is possible to obtain fingerprint information even from a full body photo if the camera has more than 80 megapixels.

It's amazing that you can see them so clearly!

hree things you need to watch out for!

So, what should you do to be safe? You may be thinking, "Why don't I just avoid posting pictures on social media in the first place?".
However, there are times when a photo is posted that shows your reflection in a place you did not intend. Also, biometric information such as fingerprints cannot be changed like passwords. That's what makes them so risky!
The following are three things you should take care of to prevent your fingerprint information from being stolen or to make it harder to steal.

1 Don't take close-up photos with a camera with more than 20 megapixels. (Dangerous even at a distance of 3~5 meters!)
2 When posting photos to social media, lower the image quality.
3 Do not point the tip of your finger at the camera.

By taking care of these three things, the chances of having your fingerprint information stolen will be greatly reduced. Your fingerprints can never be changed. Once your fingerprints are stolen, your security will be disabled even if you do not have access to the person.。 This is why it is so important to protect your own fingerprint information.

Most Japanese people tend to pose for a pictures with a peace pose.
However, the photos we take without thinking can be fraught with unexpected dangers.
A little ingenuity in preparation for the unexpected can help protect you. Let's all try to avoid dangers and enjoy social media safely!
