To investigate how consumers, who consume frozen foods, face with frozen foods, we conducted a questionnaire survey among students and teachers in our school. We collected data from a total of 220 people (204 students + 16 teachers).

Experiences of Eating Frozen Foods

It seems that most of them have eaten frozen foods. As for the students, frozen foods were already available when they were born, and they are likely familiar with them in their daily lives.

As for the positive image, "easy and convenient to prepare" received an overwhelming 131 responses, and "delicious even when cold" received 74. As for the teachers, they have witnessed firsthand the process of evolution of frozen foods and freezing technology, and they also appreciate the fact that frozen foods continue to progress.

On the other hand, as for the negative image, many respondents were concerned about the safety of frozen foods. The safety of frozen foods is explained in detail here.

Frequency of Consumption of Frozen Foods

We surveyed those who have eaten frozen foods to find out how often they eat frozen foods. The results showed that more than 80% of the respondents ate frozen foods at least once a week, and more than 90% ate them at least once a month. It seems that frozen foods have become a familiar part of our lives.

When to Eat Frozen Foods

While many people use frozen foods for lunch boxes, some people use frozen foods for meals at home. In addition to frozen foods that taste good even after they are cold, some people also eat frozen foods for snack.

What to Look for When Buying Frozen Foods

While a large number of people were conscious of the taste and texture of products, many sought products with high cost performance. On the other hand, only a few people were conscious of the expiration date, as frozen foods have excellent shelf life. It seems that some people do not care about anything.

  • Environmentally friendly products that require less waste.
  • Side dishes that taste good even when cold
  • Crispy or crunchy fried foods
  • Food that can be defrosted without heating, just by packing it in the lunch box.
  • Foods that do not lose their quality when thawed and then frozen again.
  • Foods that can be cooked for one family at a time.
  • Foods that can be defrosted instantly
  • Foods that can be cooked at room temperature or without electricity as emergency food in times of disaster.
  • Foods that contribute to local production for local consumption
  • Local snacks
  • Grilled meat, sushi, donuts, boiled fish, etc.

The most common comment was from an environmental perspective, such as the desire for environmentally friendly products to be manufactured. The problems of waste plastic and food loss, which have become global issues in recent years, are affecting the frozen food industry as well, and various companies are making various efforts. There are also various needs regarding the texture and thawing method of the food itself.
