Current status and Cause
Per capita Japanese average food loss in a year is 96kg. It is equivalent to Europe and America.
Food loss in Japan is 20% more than China and Korea, and it is about 7 times as much as South Asia and Southeast Asia. To my surprise, it is 17 times the amount of Africa.
Why do we throw away food? We discussed the factors.
In poor countries
We think they don’t have enough equipment and technology.
For example, in South Asia they throw away half of broccolis due to lack of cooling facilities. And in Southeast Asia lettuces is spoiled because transportation is a long distance.
In rich countries
As they can get food enough to eat, they are sometimes blind to the thanks of foods.
And with lack of knowledge , they cannot handle food properly.
