The benefits of Food Bank

・With enough food, both body and mind gets satisfaction.

Understanding the Food Bank situations in Japan through comparisons with foreign countries

America is one of the biggest Food Bank country and has more than 200 Food Bank organizations.

In Europe, 23 countries have between them more than 240 food bank organizations and are distributing

food without charge.

However in Japan, there are only 76 Food Bank organizations and most of them are based in Tokyo. This

means the culture of food loss reduction and food donation is not expanding at a fast enough rate and

appears to be behind other developed countries.

Through these information, it is obvious that the biggest difference between Japan and the foreign country is the

rage of their activities and the awareness. We came up with many reasons for this and one of them was that

Japan does not have a culture to give out something to strangers and does not have enough support for the

government. We have asked some questions about this to some food companies and they told us one of the

reason is that some food banks do their activity in a very small room so food companies cannot give them a lot of

foods because they do not have enough space.

If food bank was put into one of the supply chain, we might be able to reduce food loss and the consumers

can take some part of it,
