1914 World War I

World War I was a worldwide war involving about 30 countries, mainly in Europe, that began with the "Sarajevo Incident" in June 1914, when a Bosnian Serb student assassinated the Austrian Crown Prince and Princess. The war was fought against the backdrop of a conflict between the Tripartite Alliance of Germany, Austria, and Italy and the Tripartite Entente of Great Britain, France, and Russia, in which Austria, Serbia, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, Russia, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Japan, the United States, and other nations participated. The war lasted from July 28, 1914, to November 11, 1918, during which fierce fighting took place. The war ended with Germany's surrender and the defeat of the allies, and the Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919.

The war led to the persecution of children's lives and rights. Not only were children involved in the fighting itself, but also some died from starvation caused by the blockade of sea transportation routes, and the war took the lives of children in various aspects. This experience and reflection on it led to the postwar movement for the acquisition of children's rights, which was utilized to construct a new international order.
