We introduce history of kyōgen and noh here.

Basically, kyōgen looked more tragedy, and noh looked more comedy.

Well... How is it?
In Nara period, many performing arts that are rich in variety came from China, for example Sangaku (musical instrument),
song, dance, mimicry, and magic.These things are called Engaku in Heian period.
In Muromachi period, Kan-ami and Zeami (who are parent and child) plused elements of kabuki into mimicry and improve artistic.
After that, kyōgen and noh are divided.
In Muromachi period, kyōgen and noh flourished mainly at the city of Kyō (now : Kyōto),
many shōgun and daimyō made stages or employ actors and have a noukai.
