Hey you!
Have you ever thrown away food that you could still eat?
Food waste is food that is thrown away even though it is still edible.
In Japan, 5.22 million tons of food waste is produced annually.
Food waste per person is about 41kg annually.
In other words, every Japanese person is wasting a bowl of rice every day!
What should we do then?
Is there anything I can do?
This site explains the causes and effects of food waste, and introduces what each one of us can do.
Why don't you start taking actions today to reduce food waste?
"Musubi-chan"
who is surprised by
the severity of food waste.
Opens its mouth in surprise.
"Professor Onigiri" who knows
everything about food waste.
Knows the severity of food waste,
and tells people to take action.
Our theme is "Food Waste"
The reason why we created this website is to spread awareness of food waste and encourage people to take action.
Nowadays, many media agencies are reporting on the problem of food waste.
However, not many of us actually understand how we contribute to this problem.
Why, where, and how is food waste produced?
Moreover, what can we do to solve this problem?
By introducing a variety of actions we can take, from daily activities to advanced activities such as donating to a foodbank,
we attempted to create a website for readers to become more familiar with food waste.
Through this site, we hope to encourange people who might be indifferent to food waste/
people who don't know what to do, to start taking action today.
