Lecture

On January 9th (Monday), we held an online lecture on "Food loss" via zoom.

After conducting an awareness survey, we invited friends who showed
interest in food loss and gave a lecture on "Food loss."

The goal of the lecture was to have the participants deepen their knowledge
of food loss and have them take action.
We explained the current situation of food loss,
countermeasures, what we can do, and about SDGs.

Until now, we were on the side of receiving information through interviews and research,
but this time were are on the side of sharing information and encouraging people to take action.
We experienced the difficulty of actually giving a presentation and conveying our thoughts and opinions to others.

It was not easy to think about how to communicate from the creation of the presentation to the presentation,
but it was a very good experience.

At first, we weren&t sure how well we could convey the content of the lecture,
or whether the audience would take it seriously,
and we were worried that they might not actually take action.

However, at the end of the presentation, we were able to see positive reaction among audiences, such as
・"I thought that we could prevent food loss to some extent, so
I thought I would try to do something about it myself."
・"I felt that I was also promoting food loss, and I thought that I would be conscious of food loss from now on.
・"I used to think I knew about food waste, but I realized I wasn't demonstrating the solutions in real life, so I want to be careful in my life from now on."
・"The presentation was very easy to understand because it gave specific numbers and examples,
and clearly stated the current state of the world.
Food loss is a familiar problem, and I thought that more people should know about it."

These words reminded us of what we learned through the interview of Food bank Aichi, which was that "Individual actions can make a change"
It made us realize that we were able to
contribute to the reduction of food loss even though it might have been a small step.
