Penal Provisions
What Penalty are there?
1.Killing or injuring a protected animal without unnecessarily
Up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 5 million yen
2. In the event that the person has caused the pet animal to be assaulted or acted in such a way that there is a risk of trauma to the animal's body
Imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to one million yen
3. If you have debilitated a protected animal by doing any of the following
・Stop feeding or watering
・Overuse
・Restrain the animal in a place where it is difficult to maintain health and safety
・Keeping or storing animals at a density that is far outside the norm
If the protected animal is weakened by doing any of the above without permission

4.Failure to take proper care of a pet animal in your care or custody when it becomes ill or injured

5.If the animal is kept or stored in a facility where excrement has accumulated or where the carcass of another pet animal has been left unattended
Imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to one million yen
6. In case of abuse other than 2 to 5
Imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to one million yen
7.Abandonment of a protected animal
Imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to one million yen
