After completing the first round of submissions... My Reflections Part 3

After submitting my work for the first round of judging, I think back and reflect on many things... "Why didn't I do this in the first place?" I have been thinking about it for the past three blogs. In the previous three blogs, I have introduced three things I regretted and issues I felt before submitting my work for the first round of judging.

Today is the third (and final) installment.

No.3 "My body is in trouble...

The third and final issue is titled "My body is in trouble...". I would like to introduce the third and final part of the series, "My body is in trouble..." This is the end result of our negligent schedule management.

From July of this year, when we started coding in earnest, to early September after the summer break. Well, to put it simply, "spontaneously" we were working on our website. During the summer break, we were interviewing companies, connecting online and doing occasional activities, making moderate progress and speculating that we would make it to the first round of judging if we kept going at this rate. Of course, I had a certain schedule, but I had not worked out what I was going to do on what day and on what date. I still had two and a half months to go before the submission.

But this would later prove to be hell for us.

In mid-September, our club activities were busy with various preparations for the school festival. Since our school's cultural festival is mainly held by the second-year high school students, the leaders and I had to spend all of our time there. And as we were happily preparing for the festival day by day, I thought to myself, "Huh? and there's no time to make a website... I thought. But at that time, I didn't have time to think that much about the website because I was behind in my preparations for the festival.

In the first half of October, we were going to give our all for the festival, and then it was time to make a web page! I would like to say, "I'll do my best to finish the festival," but we have a midterm examination coming up in a week. We had no time to study due to the preparation for the festival, so we just kept on studying. It was already the middle of October. There is only a little over a month until the submission.

Mid-October. We had to go to Kyushu and other islands for 5 days and 4 nights. With the permission of the teachers, of course, we proceeded to create a website while we were there, but, well, it was a trip, so we couldn't proceed that far with the creation. (Also, I had another convention to attend.)

Late October. As you know, we have less than a month to submit. There was no longer any point in us even considering a schedule, because we had all the time we had on our website. We were devoting all the time we had to the website. I love working on websites. I love working on websites, so it wasn't hard at all. Isn't it fun to code until the wee hours of the morning on an online call with your team members? Isn't it cool? It was my youth.

However, it seems that my body was not up to the task. I don't know if it was the lack of sleep or the lowered immune system, but I and one other member of the team came down with an epidemic. This is one week before the submission deadline. I keenly felt the importance of taking good care of myself. But we saw this as an opportunity. We could spend all the time we had to go to school and work on this website.

And so, we managed to complete and submit our work before the first round of judging! However, there are many things to reflect on. I should have thought about my physical condition and set up a proper schedule earlier...

Now we are in a state of waiting for the results of the first round of judging. However, after reflecting on the previous round, we are already working on improving our web page for the final review. (There is also the end-of-term review...)

Of course, we have not set a schedule. We are once again ready to devote all the time we have to the website.

Please pray that this effort will lead to a good result in this contest. Or rather, first of all, we hope that we will pass the first round of judging without a hitch... I pray from the bottom of my heart.
