Typhoon x 3D printer

Hello to all of you reading! This is Riku.

Last year, Typhoon No. 14 hit Honshu, and our school had to take measures such as delaying the start of school. This typhoon seemed to be a very powerful typhoon, and we heard that there were flooding warnings in many areas.

So, in this Blog, I would like to write about the countermeasures against typhoons using a 3D printer.... I have written this blog under the title of "How to prepare for a typhoon with a 3D printer!

First and foremost, the essential item is an umbrella. Many umbrellas are made of vinyl, but there is a stretchy filament that exists in this world, and if we use it to print thinly, we can reproduce the feel of vinyl! There was a time when I was hoping that I could reproduce the feel of vinyl by printing thinly with it! I realized that filament does not change its shape in any way, so there is a high possibility that such an umbrella would not fold up. So, I thought that if I did it in a format where I printed the parts one by one in detail, and put an axis (like a stick to stabilize the tent shape) in the center, it would work! I thought.

Next, I would like to consider a countermeasure against flooding, which may not be relevant to people in urban centers.

Levees and such are large-scale, so what can we do with something smaller, something that most households can use? We would like to think about this.3D printers can print in such a way that there is no water leakage, so I thought it might be easy to use that property to do something like that, to keep water as low as a foot from coming through a door.

I will continue to think about environmental issues!Thank you for reading.
