What is 3D anyway? Dimension Edition

First, the meaning of the word 3D is three-dimensional. Many people are familiar with 3D because it is a word that appears in animated cartoons, etc., and the fourth dimension is the most familiar.

A dimension is the direction in which a line extends; one dimension is one direction, two dimensions are one additional dimension at right angles to the one-dimensional line, called a plane, etc. A third dimension is made up of multiple two-dimensional lines, called space, etc. A fourth dimension is made up of multiple two-dimensional lines, called a plane, etc.

Of these, 3-D has been the most helpful without even realizing it, hasn't it? That's right. This is the world we live in.

There are 3D games in video games, which I often play, and it is very nice to enjoy both scenery and games with 3D shapes that are different from reality.

I explained that this world is made of 3D, but originally it was called a printer, a form of printer that prints with ink on paper. Can we call that a 2D printer?

Actually... I can't say either way.

When considered in detail, it is 3D because of the thickness of the ink, but the human naked eye cannot distinguish it, so it could be taken as 2D.

Earlier, I mentioned that there are 3D games and that they are great fun. As a bit of an aside, I thought about why 3D games tend to be so popular, even though I am an outsider.

First of all, I think this has to do with the fact that 3D is familiar, which I explained at the beginning of this article. There is no doubt that animation (2D) is also popular for cartoons, but we believe that one of the reasons for the popularity of 3D is that it is easier to imagine in one's mind.

However, the reason why 3D printers have become a hot topic is different from this. I believe the reason why 3D printers have become a hot topic is simply that the creation of a revolutionary machine has allowed humankind to take a step forward into a future that will never end.
